ISLANDAP ADVANCED AND RED RECIS participated in the 1st Regional Circular Economy Fair of the Canary Islands

Coinciding with the European Week for Waste Reduction, the 1st Regional Circular Economy Fair was held in Gran Canaria, in the Northern Technology Park. This event was organized by the Commonwealth of Northern Gran Canaria Town Halls, with the cooperation of the Government of the Canary Islands, through the Canarian Agency for Research, Innovation and the Information Society, the European Regional Development Fund of the European Union ( FEDER), the Island Council of Energy of the Cabildo de Gran Canaria, the Technological Park of Gran Canaria, the Technological Institute of the Canary Islands (ITC), the Society for the Economic Promotion of Gran Canaria (SPEGC), the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria (ULPGC) and Cajasiete.

During the fair, the different activities and developments achieved by the ISLANDAP ADVANCED project were disseminated and promoted, involving the public in the importance of the transition towards the circular economy, which represents a challenge for the whole of society, since it affects all sectors. productive and to most aspects of citizens’ lives. The RECIS NETWORK also participated as a driver for the dissemination and promotion of the Circular Economy on islands, ensuring good practices and sustainability and making room for the different profiles interested in joining, since many of the problems that are generated need multidisciplinary solutions. .

During the course of the fair, a local and sustainable culture has been promoted, focused on food safety, efficient use of the resources of the Outermost Regions and reduction of waste, valuing it and turning it into resources to re-introduce it into the circular economy, as For example, the collection and recovery of coffee grounds, among many many others.
